Coco!

Well, our final visit to the Humane Society proved successful! We found this little lady: her name is Coco. She is a 5 year old German Shepherd mix. She is well behaved and tries very hard to please. We are still working on getting Isabel (our 3 year old cat) and Coco to get along and be comfortable around each other, but for now, Isabel has the upstairs and Coco stays downstairs - who knew baby gates weren't just for babies?!

Dog Daze

Paul and I have been wanting to get a dog for quite some time, but we've never had a living situation that accommodated that. Well, now that we have more room and a backyard, the time has come. There are a few breeds we have our hearts set on that we'd like to get as puppies, but we've always wanted to be able to get a dog from a shelter, too. So, we've been checking out the listings at our local humane society.

We went to the HS a few nights ago with some specific dogs in mind that we found online. However, you can't always choose who you love. Paul found a very cute and handsome pit bull mix. I'm very weary of pits as a breed, but this guy was a sweetheart. We took him for a walk and Paul fell in love with him. To make a long story short, we ended up leaving the shelter empty handed. The next day, Paul still had that pit on his mind, and I think we were leaning toward adopting him. Unfortunately, I later looked at the adoption listings and Paul's pit was gone. Somebody else fell in love with him, too.

So, the dog saga continues... We're going back to the HS tomorrow to see if any other dogs catch our eye. Maybe by my next post we'll have a new addition to the family :)

Christmas 2009

Well, Christmas has come and gone. It was a quiet Christmas this year, which was good after the whirlwind of moving. We stayed in Utah and enjoyed our first Christmas in our new home.

On Christmas Eve, we went over to our friend Gabi's house to celebrate with her family. Her mother prepared a delicious Polish Catholic Christmas Eve meal complete with Borscht (sp?) and some wonderful tilapia. The tilapia was sooo good, that I couldn't tell, at first, if it was chicken or fish, lol! Unfortunately, the night ended with us finding out that my car was hit while it was parked at her house - no note was left. Bummer! Luckily, it wasn't serious and my car has since been repaired and is as good as new.

Christmas day we just relaxed and enjoyed our day off together. I made lasagna and cheesecake for dinner.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Hears hoping we can celebrate next Christmas in California!!
